Our Goal

We are all about bringing advanced lighting technologies and manufacturing expertise to Ethiopia, promoting clean and efficient energy production and use, and creating employment opportunities – with the ultimate goal of developing home-grown, green energy products that can contribute to the reduction and elimination of energy poverty in Ethiopia and the region as well.

 

With the exploding population of Ethiopia (currently over 100 million) and a similar trend in Africa in general, it is projected that the continent will have the largest population of citizens without any access to reliable electricity in the whole world. And, this off-grid population is expected to grow for the foreseeable future. Fortunately, most of the African landscape is endowed with plentiful of solar energy making the continent conducive to produce and consume solar electricity. This, in turn, creates a huge, largely untapped market and business opportunity.

 

Abramba Technologies is dedicated to help train the people that are affected by the lack of electricity to also become the direct beneficiaries of the economic opportunity. Thus, we are currently establishing the first phase of our R&D and production facility in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. When completed, this facility will create employment opportunities and help in the development of technical and managerial skills of the local youth. With an ambitious goal to expand our manufacturing and sales capabilities in other parts of Ethiopia as well as in Africa in the future, we are relentlessly working towards contributing our share to help the people of Africa take advantage of their natural resources – particularly solar energy – to end their energy deficiency.”
